Hiking - Argental - Bourg-Argental No. 4
This trail will lead you to the ruins of the Château d'Argental.
From this 12th-century stronghold, you will discover the chapel, the surrounding wall and its watchtower.
Take the RD1082 towards Saint-Etienne. At the starting signpost after St Joseph's college, take the path to Forie on the right, go through the middle of the Terre-Louise housing development, and stay on this path (without turning right or left). Rejoin the RD1082 (⚠️ Caution, this is a busy road, be careful) and follow it for 100 m, then turn left. Follow the small paved road that leads to Argental (you can take the 'sentier de la Tortue' trail from the car park after the bridge) and then to La Faurie. From there, return to Bourg-Argental by turning left through Morel.
Short loop option: In Argental, take the downhill path between the houses on the left. After crossing the bridge, take the flat path on the left that goes up to the hamlet of Morel. Return to Bourg-Argental by taking the road on the left.
