Hiking - ARVIEUX - The Clapeyto chalets and the Col de Néal

An itinerary to admire restored alpine hamlets, leading to the Col de Néal, a gateway to the Durance valley.

“From one chalet to the next, the climb up to the Clapeyto mountain pastures is idyllic in any season! In autumn, I’m always amazed by the colours of the larches and the vast meadows. In winter, if snow conditions permit, I venture up to the high-altitude lakes. Then in spring, the sheer variety of butterflies is a dazzling sight! And in summer, this route immerses you in the life of yesteryear, set to the rhythm of pastoral farming. Not to be missed!”. Agnès Montesinos, Ecotourism and Outdoor Activities Project Manager.

  • In winter, be sure to inquire about trail conditions and snow cover!

  • In summer, caution: this is a grazing area! If you encounter livestock guardian dogs, do not pet or threaten them. Stop, then wait patiently for their "inspection" to end before calmly resuming your way, giving the flock as wide a berth as possible. It is best not to bring your dog; if you do, keep it on a leash at all times.
