Hiking - AURIBEAU - Mourre Nègre and biodiversity along the trail
A biological and varied hike! A natural heritage of great richness to observe, understand, and preserve along the way...
“I was delighted to contribute to the Village’s Local Biodiversity Atlas. I was born in these landscapes, played in this nature as a child, and have always loved this environment. The work of humankind over the centuries in shaping certain agricultural landscapes must not be abandoned. Nature is reclaiming some areas due to the decline of farming — it’s a shame, as biodiversity suffers as a result. On the other hand, some species are returning… Whether long-time families or new arrivals, all residents have a duty to preserve this cherished environment. It’s a shared heritage in delicate balance!” — Cécile Mangeot, resident of Auribeau.
- Between points 2 and 4: be alert — this section is regularly used by mountain bikers coming down from the ridge! The Grande Traversée de Vaucluse passes this way...
- Between points 6 and 8: fragile grasslands on the ridges — stay on marked trails and paths.
- Between points 9 and 11: caution — this section is regularly used by mountain bikers descending from the ridge! Circuit no. 48 of the VTT-FFC Provence Luberon Lure® network runs along here...
- Before point 10: short section of trail covered in colored marl that can be sticky and slippery in wet or thawing conditions.
- At point 12: watch for a cable stretched across the track to block motor vehicles — there’s a free passage just to the right.
- At the finish: watch out for traffic on the D48!
- PASTORAL AREA (from early June to mid-July on the ridges, and all year round near the village): if I encounter livestock guardian dogs, I don’t pet or threaten them. I stop, wait calmly until they finish checking me out, then continue quietly, keeping as much distance as possible from the flock. Ideally, don’t bring your dog — otherwise, keep it on a short leash. For reference, consult the recommended behavior when encountering guardian dogs.
- FIRE RISK: fire is the enemy of the forest... and of hikers! I don’t smoke or light fires in the woods — it’s forbidden at all times! In summer, before setting out, I check the current access conditions and regulations for forest areas.
