Walking - AURIBEAU - Tour of Saint-Pierre
Step straight into the heart of this historic place...
"Located at the foot of Mourre Nègre, the highest peak of the Grand Luberon, and at the edge of the Claparèdes plateau, Auribeau is a Provençal gem nestled in a lush green setting. Outside the village walls, further up, stands the castral site of Saint-Pierre, the original village and a defensive site. Recently restored, it features beautiful remains: a square tower, ruined dwellings, and the Saint-Pierre chapel. Even though I know this short loop well, I love to come here to recharge and get a bit of perspective!". Delphine Pacchiano, tourism advisor at the Pays d'Apt Luberon Tourist Office.
- At waypoint 4: watch out for the cable across the path preventing motorised traffic! (Clear passage just to the right).
- PASTORAL AREA (around the village, potentially all year round): if livestock guardian dogs come towards me, I will not pet or threaten them. I will stop, then patiently wait for them to finish their "check" before calmly continuing on my way, giving the flock as wide a berth as possible. It is best not to bring your dog; if you do, keep it on a tight leash. As a reminder, review the best practices for encounters with livestock guardian dogs.
- FIRE RISK: Fire is the enemy of the forest… and the hiker! I will not smoke or light fires in the forest, especially since it is forbidden whatever the season! And in summer, before setting out on a walk, I will check the conditions and regulations for access to forest areas.
