Hiking - BÉDOIN - From Jas to Chapel

This route in the heart of Ventoux is dotted with structures bearing witness to the work of people who, over the centuries, have shaped this massif.

“This walk is a true immersion in the history of Ventoux! From one jas to another, I imagined myself in turn a shepherd, forester, or charcoal burner, traversing the bare slopes of Ventoux in the 19th century. We pass from open landscapes to dense forests, we cross clearings, we walk alongside lavender fields… In the immensity of the current forest, time sometimes catches up with us, with the ruined jas, witnesses to a past still very much present.” Louis Bonnet, mountain leader at Esprit Rando.

  • At waypoint 2: exercise caution with traffic when crossing the D974.

  • Fires and bivouacking are prohibited.

  • HUNTING: During hunting season, wear brightly colored clothing, make yourself clearly visible, and respect any signage put in place by hunters.

  • PASTORAL ZONE: If protection dogs come to meet you, do not pet or threaten them. Stop, then patiently wait for their "check" to finish before calmly resuming your path, skirting the flock as much as possible. Preferably, do not bring your dog, and if you do, keep it on a leash. For more information, refer to good practices for encountering protection dogs.

  • FIRE RISK: Fire is the enemy of the forest… and the hiker! Do not smoke or light fires in the forest; it is forbidden regardless of the season! And during the summer, before heading out, check the conditions and regulations for access to forest areas.
