Walking - BONNIEUX - LACOSTE - Sentier du Portalas

Magical immersion in the cedar forest, wandering through the heart of the garrigue, and panoramic contemplation of the Southern Luberon…

« I love the contrast between the cedars, which, by their size and beauty, exude a sense of calm and peace, and the herbaceous vegetation of the open, dry, and windy environments of the summit plateau. The Portalas viewpoint also allows for observation of the southern slope of the Petit Luberon and its green oak-wooded valley bottoms. Finally, the nearby rocky areas are home to several species of birds of prey. In short, a concentrated dose of contentment! ». Laurent Michel, botanist at the Luberon Regional Nature Park.

  • Please follow the PINK markers, which indicate the correct path for this 'Sentier du Portalas' loop.

  • Watch your ankles on the few rocky sections, especially near points 2 and 3.

  • ATTENTION PASTORAL AREA: If you encounter protection dogs, do not pet or threaten them. Stop, then wait patiently for them to finish their 'inspection' before calmly continuing your way, skirting the herd as much as possible. Preferably, do not bring your dog, or keep it on a leash.

  • FIRE RISK:  Fire is the enemy of the forest… and the hiker! Do not smoke or light fires in the forest; it is forbidden regardless of the season! During summer, before setting out, check the conditions and regulations for access to forest areas. This itinerary, located in the heart of the Petit Luberon Cedar Forest, is open to the public during 'very severe' fire risk (closed during 'exceptional' risk).
