Hiking - Boucle des Galvachers

In this rugged Morvan countryside, after a long winter during which woodcutting and hedge trimming were in full swing, many men found themselves unemployed and consequently without income to get through the summer. So, many of these Morvan natives, with their teams of small, reddish-brown oxen, took to the road and went to find work in the surrounding regions, even in Franche-Comté or Champagne.
The Morvan Ecomuseum and its two Themed Houses of Anost.
A network of museums and exhibition spaces highlights the historical and ethnological heritage of the Morvan: the history and evolution of landscapes at the Maison Centre in Saint-Brisson, rye cultivation in Menessaire, the history of the Galvachers and Morvan oral traditions in Anost, Marshal Vauban, a son of the Morvan, in Saint-Léger Vauban, breeders and agriculture in Moulins-Engilbert, wet nurses and assisted children in Alligny-en-Morvan... The Ecomuseum was created by the Park to share scientific research findings on the Morvan, fully involving the local population. The common thread of the themed houses, "exchanges and migrations," offers the public a new perspective on the Morvan. It does not appear, contrary to prejudice, as a remote enclave, but rather as the open territory it has always been, a territory energized by economic, social, and cultural exchanges.
