Hiking - Boucle du Saut de Gouloux

Leaving the Maison du Parc and heading through the Breuil Chenue forest, you'll discover the dolmen of Chevresse, then the waterfall and the village of Gouloux, renowned for its clog-making. In Saint-Brisson, you'll find the Touribière du Vernay and the Étang Taureau. Two of the twelve entities of the Regional Natural Reserve of the Morvan Peat Bogs are located in Saint-Brisson. - The Étang Taureau, within the Maison du Parc, is a very old wood-floating pond. Its banks are bordered by rare vegetation thanks to the variation in water levels throughout the year. The upper part of the pond is occupied by a peat bog forest and abandoned semi-peat bog meadows. - The Tourbière du Vernay is a beautiful example of the peculiar landscape of peat bogs. A trail accessible to people with disabilities allows for the observation of water birds that land there, without disturbing them. Built on stilts, it allows you to overlook the marshy area with its characteristic mossy hummocks, surrounded by birch forests. This is where the rarest plants (round-leaved sundew, cotton grass, meadowsweet) and animals (viviparous lizard) of the peat bog live. Good shoes are essential.
