Hiking - BUIS-LES-BARONNIES - Le Saint-Julien
A flagship climbing spot in the Buis region, this loop allows you to circle the Saint-Julien rock and observe it from all angles.
« This iconic hike in the Buis region takes us to discover the Saint-Julien rock, a true rocky "lacework" of the Baronnies Provençales, so beloved by climbers worldwide. The ascent to the Pas du Saint-Julien is a rewarding effort, but once you reach the top, the Bluye mountain and Mont-Ventoux appear before us. In summer, the loop unfolds in a typical southern atmosphere, amidst Holm oaks and the song of cicadas. » Léo Michelet, intern at the Baronnies Provençales Regional Natural Park.
- At points 1 and 5: caution when crossing the departmental road.
- After point 4: fairly steep descent in some sections.
- RESPECTING THE TRANQUILLITY OF THE AREA: I respect the quiet of the place where I am hiking. I avoid shouting or using sound devices (radio, speaker, etc.), out of respect for other users and for wildlife, particularly vulnerable during breeding or hibernation periods.
- WILD PLANTS: I refrain from picking flowers and plants encountered along the way. Some are protected, and all contribute to the richness of local biodiversity.
- PRIVATE PROPERTY: I stick to the correct trail, pick nothing (lavender, fruits, etc.), do not trespass on cultivated areas, and show courtesy towards residents and farmers.
- SUMMER: Part of the route is exposed to the sun. In summer, I bring a sufficient amount of water, a hat, sunscreen, and I favor an early start to avoid high temperatures.
- FIRE RISK: Fire is the enemy of the forest… and the hiker! I do not smoke in the forest and do not light fires there, especially since it is forbidden regardless of the season! And during the summer season, before going for a walk, I check the conditions and regulations for access to forest areas.
