Hiking - Castel Sarrazin

From the village of Sainte-Eulalie to the Larzac causse, an ascent through woodland to the ruins of Castel Sarrazin, an ancient medieval fortification overlooking the Cernon valley.

The history of Castel Sarrazin is shrouded in conjecture: the castle is said to have been built by the Saracens in the 9th century and abandoned after the Albigensian Crusade. Its vegetation-covered ruins are, according to legend, inhabited by 'fadarelas' (fairies). One thing is certain: a fantastic hike awaits you in the communal forest of Sainte-Eulalie-de-Cernon!

You will sometimes cross Natura 2000 classified areas, home to protected species. Please close gates firmly in pasture areas, do not approach sheep, and keep dogs on a leash. Stay on marked paths, respect private property and nature. Do not pick flowers. Take your litter with you.
