Hiking - Sussac to Mont Gargan Trail

Starting from Sussac, this loop leads to the summit of the small Limousin mountain, Mont Gargan, where a panoramic viewpoint awaits you. The Mont Gargan site, a significant place of Resistance memory, is a protected and classified historical site, rich in history.
Nestled on the slopes of Mont Gargan, Sussac, a small traditional Limousin village, boasts a developed lake with a sandy beach and children's play area. Around the lake, chalets, labeled Gîte de France, are available for rent year-round. Hiking trailheads are located by the lake. The loop leading to Mont Gargan winds through the valleys and hills of the area: an immersion in 'maquis' country, 'maquis' in the sense of forest and 'maquis' in its historical meaning. History intertwines with personal stories and natural history; it's not uncommon around a sunken path, after pausing before a Memorial Stone, to spot a roe deer, fox, or the flight of a Short-toed Eagle. The Beech Alley bordering the summit's slope seems straight out of a Celtic fairy tale; these beeches are, in fact, classified as remarkable trees.
This trail was primarily designed for hiking. It is also open to mountain bikers and horseback riders, who use it at their own risk.
