Hiking - CHEVAL-BLANC - From La Roquette to Crau des Mayorques
An array of stunning landscapes, each more beautiful than the last...
"What's striking here and deeply resonates within us is the temperature contrast between the bottom of the Roque Rousse combe and the Crau des Mayorques plateau. Should the wind decide to join the party, the memory is unforgettable, what a delight! Along the entire route, you'll discover a rich tapestry of varied and contrasting landscapes: panoramas, rocky gorges, forest, garrigue, dry grassland, almond trees, ruins... The Petit Luberon, just as it fascinates me!" Sophie Bourlon, Pastoralism & Biodiversity Project Manager - Natura 2000 at the Luberon Regional Natural Park.
- Between points 5 and 6: mind your ankles on rocky sections, particularly on the descent after Mayorques farm.
- After point 2: be as discreet as possible in the Roque Rousse combe to preserve the tranquility of the raptors nesting nearby.
- In a STATE BIOLOGICAL RESERVE, I do not remove any wild plants or wood. I do not crush insects; I let them live and interact within micro-habitats. I do not stay near dead or decaying trees, due to the risk of falling branches.
- CAUTION: PASTORAL ZONE from early May to late July: if protection dogs approach me, I do not pet or threaten them. I stop, then patiently wait for them to finish their 'inspection' before calmly resuming my path, detouring around the herd as much as possible. Preferably, do not bring your dog, and if you do, keep it on a leash. For reference, consult the best practices when encountering protection dogs.
- FIRE RISK. Fire is the enemy of the forest… and of hikers! I do not smoke in the forest or light any fires, especially since it is forbidden regardless of the season! And during summer, before going for a walk, I check the access conditions and regulations for forest areas.
