Hiking - Circuit du Doron - The Full Loop (return via Fontaine)
Did you know? In Savoyard dialect, Doron means 'torrent'! The trail along the Doron is pleasantly shaded and dotted with small footbridges. Keep a close eye on the river's turbulent waters. It's not uncommon to spot rafts, adding an impressive and entertaining dimension to the spectacle of the water.
From the car park near the thermal spa, take the footpath towards the supermarket and continue to the rafting centre.
Below the chalet, by the roadside, head towards the Île Ferlay recycling centre.
You will reach a footbridge in 15 minutes.
2 options:
- go to Brides-les-Bains (approx. 1-hour walk)
- take the path that climbs towards Chemin du Plan, then Avenue du Château to reach Salins-le-Haut (be aware: this second option is very steep).
Choose the first option and continue on the trail to Brides-les-Bains.
If you have time, plan a visit to the spa town (park / refreshment stand / resort centre...).
If you are short on time, take the road directly on your left and cross the Pont Simon bridge towards the hamlet of Fontaine.
About 200 metres past the last houses in Fontaine, take the path on the left that leads back to Salins, completing the loop.
Follow the signs to return to the Doron footbridge below, and then to the car park.
