Hiking - From Bissorte Dam to Lac des Bataillères, an angler's paradise in Vanoise
The trail follows the impressive Bissorte Dam and its namesake lake, before leading you to the small, wild Lac des Bataillères.
Located at an altitude of 2,082 metres and built in 1935, the Bissorte dam and its reservoir are an impressive hydroelectric structure well worth a look. Further on, set in a pastoral atmosphere, Lac des Bataillères has a more secluded feel. Nestled in a sublime setting, it is teeming with trout and brook trout.
From the car park, take the wide, waymarked path through the forest that leads to the Bissorte Dam. Walk alongside the lake to the Refuge des Marches. Continue on the path to reach Lac des Bataillères about 1 hour later. The return trip is via the same route or along the other side of the lake.
