Hiking - From the Refuge des Barmettes to the Refuge du Grand Bec: the 3 Passes

Punctuated by impromptu encounters with alpine wildlife, this challenging hike requires a good deal of effort and crosses 3 passes! But the views are spectacular! The panoramic trail reveals a more secluded side of the Vanoise to the hiker, all the way to the Refuge du Grand Bec nestled beneath the Pointe de la Vuzelle.

"This airy traverse is one of my favourites, provided you enjoy wild, steep and rocky environments. I'll let you discover the Lac de Creux Noir for yourself. In colder years, it remains hidden under snow for a long time, but is nonetheless a favourite resting spot for the ibex". Céline Rutten, Park Ranger
Head towards Lac des Vaches, and take the path on your left that leads to the Vallonnet rangers' cabin.

Then take the waymarked climb up to Col Rosset, followed by Col Noir, and descend into the Creux Noir cirque.

Once at the top of the Pralognan-la-Vanoise ski area, follow the waymarkers for the Col de Leschaux on the left.

At the pass, continue to the right towards the Refuge du Grand Bec: the final descent! And traverse, via the Col de Leschaux, to the Refuge du Grand Bec.
