Hiking - Saint-Eugène Hermitage
Entering the Païolive forest, you’ll experience an enchanting and captivating walk. It is nicknamed the “forest of fados” or the forest of fairies, as the imagination delights in interpreting endlessly this chaotic landscape of rocks.
The hike alternates between oak forest sections with spectacularly shaped rocks and cliffside passages overlooking the Chassezac gorges. You will pass by the peaceful Saint-Eugène Hermitage perched on the cliff.
Although this circuit is labeled “easy,” it remains rocky, and can be steep and slippery after rain. Suitable footwear is required.

Adapt your equipment to the day’s weather conditions. Remember that mountain weather changes quickly. Bring sufficient water, sturdy shoes, and a hat. Be sure to close all gates and fences.
It is important to stay on marked trails to preserve this fragile environment, identified as a Natura 2000 ecological site and a sensitive natural area.
