Hiking - ÉTOILE-SAINT-CYRICE - Saint-Cyrice Church
This walk takes you into the heart of the Saint-Cyrice state forest, where you will discover one of the oldest churches in the Hautes-Alpes.
"This family-friendly loop around Étoile-Saint-Cyrice offers lovely panoramic views of the colorful patchwork of forests, meadows, and lavender fields that clothe the valley. Walking through the state forest is a priceless pleasure, with its instantly soothing scent of pine. Along the way, I even came across a family geocaching (a sort of GPS treasure hunt) around the 12th-century Romanesque church. What an original way to make the walk more fun! And then, standing in front of the church, you really feel like you're stepping back in time: each stone seems to hold so many stories and secrets. I find it's a walk that beautifully combines nature, history, and the gentle charm of Provence!" Dominique, a local from Orpierre and an avid hiker.
- Between points 0 (parking) and 1: use caution when crossing the D130 road.
- PEACE AND QUIET: I respect the tranquility of the area where I am walking. I avoid shouting or using audio devices (radios, speakers, etc.) out of respect for other visitors and for wildlife, which is especially vulnerable during breeding and wintering seasons.
- WILD PLANTS: I refrain from picking the flowers and plants found along the trail. Some are protected, and all contribute to the richness of the local biodiversity.
- SUMMER SEASON: A portion of the route is exposed to the sun. In summer, I make sure to bring enough water, a hat, and sunscreen, and I opt for an early start to avoid the intense heat.
- FIRE RISK: Fire is the enemy of the forest... and the hiker! I do not smoke or light fires in the forest, especially as it is forbidden year-round! And during the summer season, before setting out, I check the conditions and regulations for access to forest areas.
