Hiking - FONTVIEILLE - North Aqueduct
Back to the Roman Empire: travel back in time through the remains of the Barbegal aqueduct!
"I felt like I'd leapt back in time along the garrigue, a place of both biodiversity and history. It's a lovely walk that reveals a distant era, with its many remains of underground and overground Roman aqueducts set amidst low, dense vegetation, alongside the impressive Barbegal hydraulic mill complex. We also journey to a more recent time with the windmills made famous by Daudet." Margaux Linsolas, ambassador for the Alpilles Regional Nature Park.
- Between points 2 and 4: you must respect the private properties you encounter along the way (do not enter or cross them).
- The aqueducts are ancient ruins: please be aware that they are fragile and potentially dangerous.
- Access to the canal banks is prohibited.
- FIRE RISK: Fire is the enemy of the forest... and the hiker! Do not smoke or light any fires in the forest, as it is prohibited year-round! And in summer, before setting out on your walk, check the access conditions and regulations for forest areas.
