Hiking - L'étang des Panses
The trail largely follows the edge of the forest, passing charming houses. It also takes a typical sunken path alongside pastures. After the forest, you'll discover the fruit tree species endemic to the Miermaigne Conservatory Orchard. At La Tubenie, admire fine examples of restored Percheron architecture. L'étang des Panses, a paradise for frogs and dragonflies, unfolds along a path where it's not uncommon to encounter some of the forest's larger animals.
In the middle of the Bois des Panses, listed in the inventory of natural areas of faunistic and floristic interest (ZNIEFF), lies the site of "Le Houx", now called "La Faïencerie", where a white clay deposit led to the creation of a faience factory in 1822. Until 1870, 30 workers produced 100,000 pieces per year. You will also cross the conservatory orchard, featuring 144 varieties of apple and pear trees for cider and eating. The forest path can be wet depending on the season: remember to wear appropriate footwear.
