Hiking - La Cascade du Saut du Gier

A short but steep hike. Good hiking shoes are recommended.

A mere trickle of water in summer, it becomes a magnificent waterfall in autumn and spring, near a large scree slope.

This trail is not particularly difficult. In the hamlet of La Scie du Bost, do not follow the Grand Creux stream, but instead take the Parc n° 4 trail between two houses, marked in white and brown. Follow it for 300m to the first junction near a magnificent beech tree. There, take the marked path on the right uphill to the Saut du Gier waterfall. Return by the same route.

Everyone is responsible for their own safety. Therefore, you hike at your own risk. Please stay on the marked trails to preserve fragile environments.

A few recommendations:

  • Check the weather forecast before you leave

  • Some routes cross busy roads: Be careful

  • Keep dogs on a leash

  • Do not light fires

  • Take your rubbish with you

  • Enjoy the flowers, but do not pick them.

  • Tick bites can lead to serious illnesses; as a preventive measure: wear clothing that covers your skin, use repellent, inspect your body upon return, remove any ticks with a tick remover tool without applying anything to it, and consult a doctor in case of redness, flu-like symptoms, or if you are in a high-risk group.

  • For emergencies, dial 18 or 112.
