Hiking - La Croix Fayard - Thélis la Combe n° 3

The construction of the church, built with beautiful granite blocks, began in 1857 and was completed in 1860. On August 12 of that same year, Father Seytre, a missionary from Lyon, came to inaugurate it. The parish's patron saint is Mary. Inside, you can discover a moving wooden Christ, sculpted by a local artist, and some very beautiful stained-glass windows.

The recent renovation (2001) lends brightness and charm to this church, which is crowned by a square bell tower topped with a Cross of Lorraine.

A woodland walk with beautiful views of the village and a panoramic view of the Alps. However, hiking boots are recommended.

Leave the village and head in the direction of Bourg-Argental (same as trail N°1).

At the first bend, take the “Savary” path, following the trail markers, until you reach a stream. Turn left along the edge of a meadow bordering the stream to a junction, then turn onto the path on your right and cross the small stream, the Miolet.

Continue on this path, following the trail markers, to arrive above the hamlet of “Savary”. Take the stony, shaded uphill path on your left. At the next junction, turn left, and after about 900 m you will reach the hamlet of “Marlioux”.

Continue towards the RD 29 and cross it, heading towards the hamlets of “l’Estival” and “Champet”.

Follow this road for about 900 m. When you reach the hamlet of l’Estival, bear right, then left, passing behind the houses of the hamlet.

This path leads to a rest area.

Turn right at the rest area, passing alongside a small stream. Follow the stream up a steep climb to an intersection with a larger path. Turn left there. Follow this wide path all the way to la Croix Fayard.

Return to the village via the route shared with trail N°2.

• Admire the flowers, do not pick them.


• Tick bites can cause serious diseases; to prevent them: wear clothing that covers your skin, use repellents, check yourself upon your return, remove ticks with a tick remover tool without applying any substance to them, and see a doctor if you notice any redness, flu-like symptoms, or if you are in a high-risk group.
