Hiking - La Grotte Sarrazine - La Versanne n° 1

Beautiful viewpoint from the Grotte Sarrazine.

The trail crosses the Biousse beech forest, one of the five sensitive natural areas in the Loire. This wooded area reveals the remains of charcoal burning sites, as well as a remarkable natural heritage that changes color with the seasons.

Beautiful viewpoint from the Grotte Sarrazine.

Start at the foot of the village. Follow the small road through Faubec and La Comboursière to the hamlet of La Côte, about 1.3 km away. At this hamlet, head up on the left to the Croix Fayard (GR 42®, marked with red and white blazes). Access to the Grotte Sarrazine is possible (private property). Go over the summit, descend to the level area, and go around to the left to reach the foot of the rocks (warning: steep area, risk of falling) and discover the cave.
At Croix Fayard, turn left twice and descend to the Biousse road. Cross it and take the parallel path below. When you reach the asphalt, take the wide track straight ahead which leads you back first to Faubec, then to the village.

You are responsible for your own safety. Therefore, all hikes are undertaken at your own risk. Stay on the marked trails to protect fragile environments.
