Hiking - La Pierre des 3 Evêques - La Versanne No. 3
alternating between meadows and pastures,
heather moorlands, and fir forests.
The trail leads to the
mysterious and legendary Pierre des
3 Evêques.
This site and its surroundings have been listed
since 1946 in the inventory of picturesque sites
of the Loire department due to
the scenic views from this location, which has
the French Alps in its line of sight.
Trailhead: Les Trois Croix car park (near the Col de La République).
⚠️ Caution, this road has heavy traffic, please be careful.
Follow the D 22 road towards Saint-Sauveur-en-Rue; after 500 m, take the path on the right
that crosses the park through the trees. At the crossroads, turn left onto the forest
track, GR 7
®, marked with red and white blazes, which leads you to the road. Turn
immediately left onto the wide track (leaving the GR
®), and continue straight on through the woods. Make a
right-angled turn to reach the Rock.
Go past the Pierre des Trois Evêques and head back down through the woods to the D 22.
Follow the road down to the hamlet of Les Préaux. At the Place des Bassins,
turn left and follow the local road to the last farm
buildings, then take the paved path on the left to get back to the D22 and Les Trois Croix.
