Hiking - La Semène - Jonzieux n° 3
This trail, on the border of the municipalities of Jonzieux and Marlhes, follows the Semène, a river that originates near the Château du Bois in Saint-Genest Malifaux and joins the Loire at Semène-sur-Loire.
Head towards the Maison de la Passementerie via Rue de la Rouchouse, then Rue des Passementiers. Approximately 200 meters after the Musée de la Passementerie, turn left towards Les Fabriques. The small road leads to the banks of the Semène; turn left and cross the river a little further on to continue towards the woods.
At the first intersection, continue left. 200 meters further on, take the right-hand path that leads into the forest (beautiful view of Jonzieux village on the left). Approach the river, cross a clearing where a small stream flows; the path then becomes stony. Continue through the woods, following the markers until you encounter the Semène again; cross it and pass by the fish farm.
Continue on the paved path for 100 meters, then take the grassy and damp path on the right. It passes below the hamlet of La Rouchouse and becomes pleasant until you reach the hamlet of La Boucharatte. At the cross, take the paved path to the right (view of the hamlet of Les Gauds, municipality of Saint-Genest Malifaux).
After a few hundred meters, take the path on the left (marked in white and brown by the Pilat Regional Nature Park) which climbs into the woods to a five-way intersection. Take the leftmost path that runs alongside a house at the locality known as Le Plat. At the cross, take the right-hand path, leaving Peyravenay village to your left. The view opens up to Jonzieux village and the Monts du Velay.
Turn left onto the paved road, then immediately right onto the path towards Jonzieux. The path crosses a beautiful fir forest. Upon exiting the woods, cross the small paved road and continue straight on the path to reach Jonzieux via Rue des Fougères.
