Hiking - LACHAU - Tour du Riable

A climb up to the Tour du Riable, a sentinel overlooking the landscape, offering a vast panorama over the Méouge valley.

"Stone is inextricably linked to the history of Humankind and, of course, to our Earth. This trail takes us on a journey through time. Two main periods are marked by the stone constructions of the Middle Ages, with the priory and the castrum perched high above. Then, once in the mountains, the cliffs are like open books, telling us the story of how this landscape was formed." Xavier Mordefroid, Mountain Guide.

  • Before waypoints 1 and 4:  crossing a main road, be careful!

  • RESPECT THE TRANQUILITY of the area. Avoid shouting and do not use musical instruments or sound devices (radios, etc.), out of respect for other users and for the peace of the local wildlife, especially during breeding and wintering seasons when the animals are much more vulnerable.

  • Avoid picking wild plants: some of them are protected.

  • Part of the route is highly exposed to the sun; bring the necessary equipment (water, a hat, sunscreen, etc.) on hot summer days. An early morning start is recommended to avoid the hottest hours of the day.
