Hiking - LAGNES - Tête du soldat and Mur de la peste

Geology, history, heritage, flora, this trail has it all! A perfect hike to enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the Monts-de-Vaucluse and the unexpected history of the Luberon.

"This hike is a classic in the Monts-de-Vaucluse! Longer and more comprehensive than the nearby gem that is the Lagnes discovery trail, but less demanding than the full loop which goes in the opposite direction, this version has the advantage of getting straight to the highlights. And what amazing highlights they are! A hilltop village, breathtaking views, cedar forests, the Plague Wall, cultivated terraces... Wonderful!". Eric Garnier, Outdoor Sports Project Manager at the Luberon Regional Natural Park.

  • At points 2 and 7: road crossing, use caution!

  • Between points 3 and 4: cliff edges at the natural viewpoint, use caution!

  • I do not climb on the dry-stone walls and structures; in this way, I help preserve these witnesses to our past.

  • Near points 3 and 5: CAUTION, PASTORAL AREA from early May to late July: if livestock guardian dogs approach me, I do not pet or threaten them. I stop, then wait patiently for them to complete their "inspection" before calmly resuming my way, giving the flock as wide a berth as possible. It is best not to bring your dog; if you do, keep it on a tight leash. As a reminder, review the correct behavior to adopt when encountering livestock guardian dogs.

  • FIRE RISK. Fire is the enemy of the forest... and the hiker! I do not smoke or light fires in the forest, especially since it is forbidden in all seasons! And during the summer, before setting out on a walk, I check the access conditions and regulations for forest areas.
