Hiking - LAURIS - From the Vallon de Recaute to the Combe de Sautadou

A small but beautiful taste of the Petit Luberon...

“Concerts of birdsong bring the area to life. As you venture quietly into the bottom of the valley in the heart of the Petit Luberon, the vegetation changes; Aleppo pines and holm oaks give way to low, dense shrubs that can withstand severe droughts. It is in this garrigue, scented with thyme, rosemary, and savory, that you will climb the path (not so easy!) leading to the small col between the Vallon de Recaute and the Combe de Sautadou. There, especially in autumn, I love to enjoy the beautiful view of the surrounding cliffs, or in winter, to look out over the south-facing vista of the Durance valley. In spring, I watch birds of prey and passerines in full flight. Magical!”. Fabrice Teurquety, Tourist Information Advisor at OTI Destination Luberon.

  • After waypoints 2 and 3: narrow, steep, and rocky path, sometimes wet and slippery. Caution!

  • At the small col between Recaute and Sautadou, please be as quiet as possible to preserve the peace of the birds of prey that nest and live in the area.

  • FIRE RISK. Fire is the enemy of the forest… and the hiker! Do not smoke or light fires in the forest; it is forbidden in all seasons! And during the summer, before setting out, check the access conditions and regulations for forest areas.
