Hiking - Le Biez - Saint-Pierre de Boeuf - n° 2
Between the Rhône and Pilat:
Feet in the water,
Head in the clouds
Turn right onto Rue du Milieu (central street). Along this street, you will pass the first church of St-Pierre, built in 470 AD. After Place du Carcan, on your right, you can spot a facade with mullioned windows and an Archbishop's cross. Turn right into Passage du Marché to reach Place de l’Eglise, dedicated to St-Pierre and St-Paul (built in 1863).
Cross the D 1086 and take Chemin des Écoliers, formerly "route de la dame" (from Le Puy-en-Velay). Turn left into Quartier du Soleil, then take the first right into Lotissement Les Abricotiers. Go straight to reach Route du Grand Val. Go uphill and take Chemin des Vignes to the left, which winds through the heart of the vineyards (St-Joseph Appellation). Continue along this path until Route de Chèzenas and turn left until the viewpoint. Take a break here to admire the scenery. Ascend alongside the vineyards (Condrieu Appellation) and take the left path. Strictly following the waymarks, climb on your right towards Le Biez.
At the hamlet of Le Biez, follow the paved path until the junction with Route de la Chapelle. Turn right until the bus shelter (at the locality called La Chamble Jaure), heading towards Bois Prieur. Leave the cross on your left to descend to the right, then continue straight (following the end of trail n°1 of Bois Prieur) to descend back to the village.
On Route de Chèzenas, take the lane opposite to arrive at the cemetery square, where the installed fountain comes from an old town square: Place du Carcan.
Take Passage de la Trêve, which runs along the cemetery, then turn left to join Chemin du Petit Malin, which leads back to the starting point.
