Hiking - The Maraude Trail

After visiting the archaeological museum, take the time to discover the site and the various excavation areas of the ancient city of Bibracte, founded at the end of the 2nd century BC by the Eduan people, who made it their capital.
BIBRACTE
Mount Beuvray is home to the remains of a fortified Gallic city (or oppidum) from the 1st century BC. Its name is known to us from the writings of Julius Caesar, who stayed there several times during the Gallic Wars, between 58 and 51 BC. It was the capital of the Eduans, a people who then occupied a territory extending from the Saône to the Allier. After the Roman conquest, under the reign of Emperor Augustus, Bibracte was gradually abandoned for Augustodunum (Autun). A unique witness to the late Iron Age, the site has been studied by archaeologists since the mid-19th century.
The "chemin de Maraude" (Maraude Trail) allows you to discover Mount Beuvray from a natural perspective.
