Walking - The Demoiselle coiffée circuit
A geological curiosity to discover along an easy trail, perfect for the whole family.
"The wide path allows for a gentle start to the hike, in the cool of the woods. June is my favourite season because it's an explosion of colour: the wildflower meadows are a testament to this, and a multitude of flowers accompany our steps. The Demoiselle coiffée site, at an altitude of 1100 m, is rockier, located in the Daillait ravine. The return journey via the Penot bridge along the Doron de Belleville allows you to enjoy the tranquillity of the area. And to finish, the whole family can have fun with the "Mystery of the Owl Stone" discovery game in the village of Villarenger." Céline Rutten, Vanoise National Park ranger.
From the car park, cross the Roman bridge and take the forest track on the right, on the left bank of the Doron de Belleville. The trail is easy-going, first flat and then gently downhill. Access to the Demoiselle coiffée is via a small out-and-back path on your left, after crossing the Daillait stream. To return, continue on the path that goes down to the Doron. Cross the Penot bridge (1050 m). Leave the Chemin des Frênes on your left and continue along the Doron until you reach the hamlet of Villarenger. The booklet for the "Mystery of the Owl Stone" discovery game can be collected beforehand from the tourist offices in the Belleville valley (St Martin, Les Ménuires, Val Thorens). Route n°26 on the valley's trail map.
