Hiking - The Hamlets Loop - Echalas No. 4
The trail passes through La Groirie, a place where the 'gruage' was collected: a seigneurial right over wood cut in the forest. It then continues to Chatanay, an area planted with chestnut trees, which were very useful for food and for making stakes (echalas?).
The route then passes the Pêt du Loup, which peaks at an altitude of 561 m and is a true biodiversity hotspot.
From the church, follow the Route de la Croix Régis. As you leave the village, turn right onto the Route de la Croix des Rameaux. At the power station, turn left, then right at the next junction. Go left towards Les Moussières (⚠️ Warning: busy road, be careful.) and La Groirie before crossing the forest towards Chatanay.
Follow the main road for about 100 m (be careful) and take the path on the right.
This route will take you through the woods of Combe de Morin and Gibattière, heading back up towards the famous Pêt du Loup.
Continue towards the antenna and immediately after, take the downhill path on the right.
Cross the D59 road (⚠️ Warning: busy road, be careful) and head towards Les Tuillières.
Return to the village.
Everyone is responsible for their own safety. Therefore, you hike at your own risk. Stay on the marked trails to protect fragile environments.
A few recommendations:
Check the weather forecast before you set off
Some routes cross busy roads: Be careful
Keep dogs on a leash
Do not light fires
Take your litter home with you
Admire the flowers, do not pick them.
Tick bites can lead to serious diseases. As a preventive measure: wear clothes that cover your skin, use repellents, and check your body when you return. Remove any ticks using a tick remover tool without applying any substance. Consult a doctor if redness or flu-like symptoms appear, or if you belong to a high-risk group.
For emergency services, dial 18 or 112.
