Hiking - Le Col du Béal
Le Col du Béal
The Col du Béal reaches an altitude of 1390m. The vegetation is dominated by blueberry heathland and heather. On August 15th of each year, the col hosts the Blueberry Festival, where many people gather around the sale of wild blueberries and a market of local producers and artisans.
In good weather, viewpoints are numerous and magnificent near the col, offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Take the time to stop on the trail at the summit of Peyre Mayou (1542m), where you’ll enjoy a panoramic view of the Puy de Dôme, the Monts Dore and the Monts du Cantal to the west and east, and the Monts du Lyonnais, Mont Blanc and the Alps.
You can also visit Roche Curve (off-trail to the north of the col) to enjoy the orientation table, which will allow you to decipher the landscapes.
