Hiking - Fort de Ronce and Lac Clair, departing from Col de Mont-Cenis
Starting from the spectacular Lac de Mont Cenis with its deep blue waters, this hike seeks out the translucent waters of the small Lac Clair. Enjoy one of the most beautiful panoramas in the Alps during 4 hours of an enchanting escape. Breathe, look, feel!
A polychromatic hike, between indigo lakes, azure sky, green pastures, and multicoloured flowers. In fact, among the 700 botanical species visible in the Mont-Cenis Alpine Garden, some grow only here! Built in the 19th century by the Italians to defend one of the easiest passes in the Alps, Fort de Ronce offers a breathtaking viewpoint over Lac du Mont Cenis. Higher up, the trail continues to Lac Clair, a beautiful high-altitude lake that truly lives up to its name.
From the car park in front of the Franco-Italian house, cross the road to find the start of the trail.
The climb is brief (40 minutes) but steep to reach Fort de Ronce, which dominates Lac du Mont-Cenis.
From the fortification, continue along the trail that climbs through the alpine pastures up to Lac Clair.
Return via the same path.
