Trailence

Hiking - Le Goulet

Starting from the Montbel plateau and the banks of the Chassezac, the trail climbs to the summit of Le Goulet (1,497 m). This mountain, running exactly parallel to Mont Lozère, forms a wide plateau generously covered in forest (spruce, oaks, birches, beeches).

Less known and less frequented than Mont Lozère, Le Goulet is truly worth a detour between the Cévennes and the Margeride. Along the way, you'll discover tiny tributaries of the Chassezac with charming names: Montifoulet, Combesal, Foulatrechio, Coufoulens...

Along the route, directional posts and yellow painted waymarks will guide you. The place names and/or directions to follow are indicated in bold italics and in quotation marks in the description below:

Starting from “Belvezet”, head toward “Les Pauses”, “La Peyre”, “Fon Foucel”, “La Plone”, then turn right toward “L’Ayrette”, and return via “Fon de Curobias”, “La Pierre Plantée”, “Font de la Pézade”, “Le Giraldou”, and “Belvezet”.

This walk is taken from the cartoguide Mont Lozère, Land of Springs, from the mountain of Goulet to the Bramont Gorges, produced by the Mont Lozère Outdoor Activity Center.

Adapt your equipment to the day’s weather conditions. Remember that mountain weather can change quickly. Make sure to bring enough water, good shoes, and a hat. Always close fences and gates properly.
