Hiking - Le Grand Marat - Périgneux - Métrieux - Chuyer No. 4

The municipality of Chuyer covers 1200 ha and includes over 20 hamlets. This beautiful hike is a great way to discover them.

From the cemetery car park, head up the road towards the village centre, then take the first road on the right. Continue for 50 m, then turn left, passing under the town hall archway. At the top of the stairs, turn left. Return to the village square, walk past the inn, and after 50 m on the D30, take the small road on the left. You will walk alongside the site of the old factory, near the mulberry tree, cross the meadows and a stream, then climb up towards Le Grand-Marat.

At an elevation of 493m, the highest point of the route, you will discover this hamlet, once a fortified farm belonging to the de Villars family. A few metres away, reach elevation point 470.8. Here you'll find a panoramic view of the village and the municipality, with a beautiful viewpoint over the Alps.

Take the public path on the left, cross the D19, and pass through the hamlets of Ecotay and Périgneux. Then, amidst pastures teeming with varied wildlife, you will reach Métrieux, the largest hamlet in the municipality.

After a short walk along the D90, remember the "Vire-culs" battle that took place here. Turn right towards the stream, join the D30 and trail No. 3 to return to the village via the hamlets of Molard and Grange Blanche.
