Hiking - The Grand Tour of Réno-Valdieu

One of the last remnants of the great Carnutes Forest, the Réno-Valdieu forest has changed little in its extent since the Middle Ages. Successively comital under the Rotrou, royal from the reign of Saint Louis, and state-owned since the Revolution, the forest offers today's hiker its dark high forests and bright edges. This circuit is certified by the French Hiking Federation.

From the village of La Chapelle-Montligeon and its Neo-Gothic basilica, the entry into the heart of the forest will be gradual, alternating between woods and hamlets, offering a beautiful view of the St Victor-de-Réno valley. After a long forest traverse, you will pass in front of the old Valdieu Charterhouse, but also in front of the "Grands Arbres." Then the return, more rural, will mainly follow the paths along the western edge, with its beautiful viewpoints.
Be careful during the two (short) crossings of the D8.
