Hiking - The Goléon Lake from Les Terrasses

A varied panoramic route, offering the hiker magnificent views of the majestic Meije.

After a balcony path facing La Meije, the route follows the Valfroide track and its string of remarkable hamlets. The hiker then discovers the wide valley leading to the preserved natural area of Goléon Lake.

The route is very exposed to the sun (there is no shaded section). Equip yourself accordingly.

Waymarking: along the hike you will encounter several types of trail markers: GR red and white markings between Les Terrasses and the Sainte Anne oratory, then an alternation of yellow, red, and white marks (notably between Valfroide and the refuge), as well as long sections without any markings.

The story of the Salomon Mines, painted onto slabs along the trail, punctuates the ascent to the refuge.

It is also possible to start from the hamlet of Les Hières for a shorter hike.
