Walking - Le Plateau - Short Loop - Saint-Michel n°2
From the car park, walk up past the town hall and the church, then take the street that passes below the cemetery. In the hamlet of Le Piaton, just before the cross, take the path on the right up through the meadows. Follow Rue des Granges for about 500m. Leave it temporarily by taking a path on the right that passes between the houses. This path comes out back on Rue des Granges, heading towards the Route des Grands Prés (D34). Cross the main road (D34) to pick up the path that veers slightly to the left. Climb for about 250m then turn right towards the Caveau, and enjoy the view of the Pilat massif. At the end of the path, you will arrive in Montjoux. The name, Mons Jovis in Latin, suggests that an altar to Jupiter was erected on this summit during the Gallo-Roman era. Continue to the right along the Route Communale du Réseau Ange for 200m, then take the path behind the cross to return to the village via the La Faverge district.
