Hiking - Le refuge du Sélé

In a high mountain setting, this hike follows a valley with mythical mountains and leads to two mountain huts via a perilous cliff crossing.

As early as 1913, the French state, through the Water and Forest Administration, purchased land from certain communes in Oisans and Vallouise. Thus, the Celse Nière valley benefited from protection long before the creation of Écrins National Park in 1973.

In the Sélé cliff section, a difficult passage is equipped with cables, exposed, and very slippery in wet or rainy conditions. Camping is prohibited after Ailefroide; bivouacking is allowed more than an hour’s walk from the national park limits from 7 PM to 9 AM. Fires are forbidden.
