Hiking - The Tour du Brugeron
The Blason du Brugeron
Created in 1966, the Blason du Brugeron brings together 3 essential elements of the municipality: 2 wooden soles reflecting the rural character of the municipality but also its significant number of shoemakers, a pine tree symbolizing an essential element of the landscape, and heather for the name Brugeron, etymologically meaning heather.
The Sawmills
The first sawmills, or “plank sawing mills,” experienced a major boom on the slopes of the Forez region from the Middle Ages to the mid-19th century. These sawmills were located on a weir (diversion of a stream) similar to mills. Some were tiny installations, and as many as 28 sawmills were counted in the Brugeron municipality in 1814.
