A short hike rich in viewpoints, culminating in the Lanterne des Morts de Culhat, a notable monument from the 12th century.
The Lanterne des Morts

The Lanterne des Morts de Culhat dates back to the 12th century. It’s a Romanesque tower, four meters high, built from arkose stone blocks with a window for hoisting a lantern lit to guide travelers. It’s believed to have roots in ancient practices aimed at warding off evil spirits. Christianity adopted the theme of light to symbolize devotion to the dead.
A symbol of eternal light, a shield against evil spirits, or simply a landmark for travelers, the Lanterne des Morts remains mysterious.
