Walking - The Monuments of the Village - Rochetaillée No. 1

From the Echenaux car park, cross the RD8, go down the stairs through the Marie Rose Saez passage and take the road on the left towards the Gouffre d’Enfer dam.

At the first car park, take the Chemin de l’Aqueduc des Fontaines to the right, under the bench, to pass below the village. Go up on the right to rejoin the D8, continue to the washhouse and take the GR 42 on the left up to the chapel.

Pass underneath the chapel and go down onto the aqueduct path. At the tarmac road, go up to the right and continue straight on into the woods along a narrow path beside a hedge until you reach the Perthuis cross up on your left. Follow the downhill path in front of you that veers to the right until you reach the high-voltage power line, then go up at the next junction to arrive at the cemetery. (You can take a short detour to the right to climb up to the madonna for a magnificent view of the village).

Head back down via the road (and the small alleyway), take the Impasse de l’Ecole on your left, which will lead you to the church square via the stairs, then go down to the castle.

• Tick bites can cause serious diseases. Prevention: wear clothing that covers your skin, use repellent, check your body upon your return, remove ticks with a tick remover without applying any substance, and consult a doctor if redness or flu-like symptoms appear, or if you are in a high-risk group.
