Hiking - Les Scies - La Roche - Doizieux No. 3
Magnificent view over the entire Dorlay Valley, the Jarez hillsides, the Gier Valley, the Lyonnais Mountains and Lyon on a clear day.
From the car park at the north entrance, cross the village, then turn right towards the hamlets of Ayats and Grosmont. Cross the main road carefully, then take the path opposite. Cross the road again to reach Maupas, then descend to the hamlet of Les Scies, where you will meet the Dorlay river and the road. Go past the sawmill and, at the inn, turn left.
Enter the forest, home to a wide variety of trees. Some are native, like conifers, hazel, ash and maple, while others, like Douglas firs, have been planted.
Reach the La Sordière climbing site. The climb is steep, but afterwards you will follow the contour line to reach the hamlet of La Roche, with its magnificent view over the entire Dorlay Valley, the Jarez hillsides, the Gier Valley, the Lyonnais Mountains and Lyon on a clear day. Descend to the hamlet of Le Bruchet, then turn left and re-enter the forest, where the scents vary with the seasons. Reach Le Mas and note its cross before arriving in the village of Doizieux.
⚠️ Caution: Busy road, be careful.
