Hiking - The Old Trees
This hike begins at the Chartreuse du Val-Dieu, founded in 1170, destroyed after the revolution of 1795 to 1799, and by one of the ponds dug by the monks of that era. You will then discover the Forêt de Réno Valdieu, mainly populated by oaks and beeches: in 1665, Colbert imposed the high forest system to provide the royal navy with the timber needed for ship frames.
A stroll through the Forêt de Réno Valdieu, the discovery of the Chartreuse du Valdieu, and the "Old Trees" of the canton de la Gautrie.
At the beginning of the hike, you walk alongside meadows and a trotters' training track: please keep your dogs on a leash.
The same applies to the D8, a very busy road.
