Hiking - LOURMARIN - Combe des Cavaliers and Pelat de Buoux
Wild, varied, panoramic, and packed with heritage...
"The trail starts among farmhouses, vineyards and olive groves, but quickly gives way to a winding path at the bottom of a ravine. Then, the arduous climb up the Combe des Cavaliers finally emerges onto the crests of the Grand Luberon. The view from there is magnificent! A sharp drop down the north face is followed by a climb back up through the woods to Pelat de Buoux. You'll fall in love with the panoramic view all over again! Then, on the ridges, it's time to relax and appreciate the full richness of this unspoilt massif. For the final treat, you'll discover the quiet village of Vaugines, followed by the charming terraces of Lourmarin..." Romain Laussac, nature guide at the Destination Luberon Tourist Office.
- At the start, at waypoints 7 and 8, and at the very end of the route, you will cross a busy road: be careful!
- Along the way, near homes, please respect private property and always be courteous to other users and landowners.
- CAUTION: PASTORAL AREA on the ridges and at the foot of the massif: if you encounter livestock guardian dogs, do not pet or threaten them. Stop, wait patiently for them to 'inspect' you, then calmly resume your walk, giving the flock as wide a berth as possible. It is best not to bring your dog; if you do, keep it on a tight lead.
- FIRE RISK. Fire is the enemy of the forest... and the hiker! Do not smoke or light fires in the forest; it is forbidden at all times of the year! During the summer, before setting out, check the access conditions and regulations for forest areas.
