Walking - MALAUCENE - Groseau Spring

Be amazed by the Groseau spring and the village of Malaucène, the starting point for Mont Ventoux.

"My walk in Malaucène was an unforgettable experience. As soon as I arrived in this old stone village, I was captivated by its peaceful and authentic atmosphere. Following the trail, I discovered the Groseau spring, with its clear, fresh water—a true haven of peace." Lucie Parent, Water Resource Project Manager at the Mont Ventoux Regional Natural Park.

From the car park, turn left onto the road towards the village of Malaucène. At the bridge, keep left. At the "Malaucène" crossroads (334 m), cross the road to reach the narrow street in the heart of the village.
1- Stay on the narrow street to the left, then go under the archway. At the fountain, take the cobbled path then fork right to reach the stairs leading up to Cavalaire.
2- Once at the top, go back down the stairs and turn left, then right into the narrow passage that leads back down to Place de la République. Turn right, pass the bookshop and head down to the left towards Avenue de Verdun.
3- Cross the road and continue straight on, passing the primary school. At the "Le Grès" crossroads (344 m), stay right, then at the "Le Gros Noyer" intersection (356 m), fork left.
4- Leave the main road and take the small road on the right, which turns into a gravel track. At the Y-junction, stay on the lower path.
5- At the "La Beaume" crossroads (433 m), climb the rocky path on the right. At the top of the climb, head back down the gravel track opposite.
6- After 200 m, turn right then head down towards the building. At the spring, return to the car park behind the restaurant.

  • HUNTING: During hunting season, wear brightly coloured clothing, make your presence clearly known, and respect the signs put up by hunters.

  • GRAZING AREA: If livestock guardian dogs approach you, do not pet or threaten them. Stop, wait patiently for them to "check you out", then calmly continue on your way, giving the flock as wide a berth as possible. It is best not to bring your own dog; if you do, keep it on a tight lead. As a reminder, review the best practices for encounters with livestock guardian dogs.

  • FIRE RISK: Fire is the enemy of the forest… and the hiker! Do not smoke or light fires in the forest, especially since it is forbidden year-round! And in summer, before setting out on a walk, check the latest conditions and regulations for access to forest areas.
