Hiking - MALEMORT-DU-COMTAT - Devil's Gorge
Winding between the garrigue and the Nesque valley floor, this loop offers beautiful views of the surrounding villages and nature, with Mont Ventoux in the background.
“This loop is perfect for a mild summer day. An early morning start allows me to climb while the sun is still gentle. The temperature rises and the sun gets stronger, but a section along the Nesque valley floor offers me some cool shade before the return to the village.” Lise Collin, Ecotourism Project Manager at the Mont-Ventoux Regional Nature Park.
- Before and after point 2: cross the D5 road.
- Point 3: walk for 50m along the D5.
- After point 3: a river crossing (ford) may be necessary.
- Point 6: the trail follows a riverbed; be careful in case of heavy rain.
- This route is not recommended in heavy rain.
- HUNTING: During the hunting season, wear brightly coloured clothing, make your presence known, and respect the signs posted by hunters.
- PASTORAL AREA: If livestock guardian dogs approach you, do not pet or threaten them. Stop, wait patiently for them to "check you out", then calmly resume your walk, giving the flock as wide a berth as possible. It is best not to bring your own dog; if you do, keep it on a tight leash. As a reminder, review the best practices for encounters with livestock guardian dogs.
- FIRE RISK: Fire is the enemy of the forest… and the hiker! Do not smoke or light fires in the forest; it is forbidden at all times of the year! And during the summer, before setting out, check the current access conditions and regulations for forest areas.
