Hiking - Mallevrière via Finiels

Set out to conquer the summit of Mont Lozère, the Finiels. Three orientation tables allow you to discover the panorama.
From the granite chaos of Finiels to the eponymous summit, this loop follows in the footsteps of Robert Louis Stevenson and his donkey, Modestine.
Along the route, directional posts guide you, with the names of places and/or directions indicated in "bold italic and in quotes" in the description below:

Start at "Pont de la Colonie", head towards the "Col de la Draille" via "Le Cougnet", then take the direction of the "Sommet de Finiels".
Descend towards the "Valat de La Mouline" via the "Route Forestière des Crêtes", then head to "l'Abri Forestier de Mallevrière".
Return to "Pont de la Colonie" via the "Travers de l'Homme".

Hike excerpted from the guidebook Massif du mont Lozère – Pays de Sources, Sommet des Cévennes, organized by the Mont Lozère outdoor activities center.
Rocky paths; summit of Finiels should be avoided in foggy weather. Part of the trail is closed to mountain bikes. Adapt your equipment to the day’s weather conditions. Remember that weather changes quickly in the mountains. Bring enough water, good shoes, and a hat. Make sure to close all gates and fences.
