Hiking - MAUBEC - La draille des frères Nouguier

Discovering the Petit Luberon, or how to treat yourself to a hike with panache!

"As is often the case in the Petit Luberon, the best rewards must be earned! The steep climb from Maubec on the shaded north-facing slope reveals beautiful, life-giving undergrowth. The ridges alternate between precious garrigue and dry grasslands. As for the edges of the rocky steps along the way, they offer breathtaking views of the Durance, the Calavon valley, the Monts-de-Vaucluse, and Mont Ventoux... Then, when the slope suddenly plunges, scree and rocky areas predominate; here, a company of birds will join you. Finally, the last section, via Robion and the foot of the massif, is gentler yet still captivating. This mosaic of species, habitats, and landscapes is truly enchanting!". Fabrice Teurquety, tourist advisor at the Destination Luberon Tourist Office.

  • After point 2, during the ascent, be cautious on the two ledge sections!

  • After point 4: steep descent with some quite technical rocky or stony sections, be careful!

  • WARNING: PASTORAL AREA on the ridges from early June to late July. If you encounter livestock guardian dogs, do not pet or threaten them. Stop, then wait patiently for them to 'inspect' you before calmly resuming your way, bypassing the flock as much as possible. It is preferable not to bring your dog; if you do, keep it on a tight leash. As a reminder, review the correct behavior to adopt around livestock guardian dogs.

  • FIRE RISK: Fire is the enemy of the forest… and the hiker! Do not smoke or light fires in the forest; it is forbidden in all seasons! And during the summer, before setting out, check the access conditions and regulations for forest areas.
