Hiking - MÉOUNES - Aiguilles de Valbelle

From the Chartreuse monastery, set off to discover the beautiful Morières-Montrieux national forest and the mysterious Aiguilles de Valbelle.

In the area around the Montrieux-le-Jeune Charterhouse, a place that inspires calm and rejuvenation, erosion has left behind the incredible Aiguilles de Valbelle, standing like guardians over the site. Emerging from a small valley, these rocky spires are true geological curiosities. Formed by the combined effects of wind, rain, and frost, they are magnificent witnesses to millennia of geological transformation. Discover this place, rich in history on many different time scales.

The Montrieux-le-Jeune Charterhouse is still home to a monastic community. Please respect the tranquility of the area.

A flock and livestock guardian dogs may be present along this hike: know how to react! Give the flock as wide a berth as possible. If a dog approaches, stop, do not stare into its eyes, do not brandish your poles, and speak to it calmly while you wait for it to identify you. 

In summer, the area is at high risk for wildfires. For this reason, access is regulated from June 21st to September 20th. Check the access conditions for the forest areas, which are updated daily on the Var prefecture's website.
